A holiday to India can be fun as well as stressful in terms of organizing and packing essential stuff for the entire trip. It is an onerous task to understand what goes into packing so that your overall experience can be filled with maximal delightfulness. A clever and planned packing can make your visit to Sinny Leopard Camp a smooth sailing one. Considering this, here are some easy tips and recommendations to pack wisely for your holiday at Sinny:
What Clothing Should I Pack on the Jungle Safari?
Below mentioned are some important information on the attire and ensembles those are suitable for a jungle safari at Sinny Leopard Camp.
We recommend our guests, who are interested in experiencing jungle safari, to adhere to a pale and light-toned color palette (grey, cream, olive or beige color) and steer clear of dark colors as these clothes are highly heat adsorbent and also, avoid clothes with bright colors as they might result in attracting bugs.
- Pair of cargo pants and long trousers
- Long sleeved cotton t-shirts and shirts
- Comfortable and snugly bottoms for the camp
- Sturdy walking or track shoes and hiking boots those are cushioned
- A croc style closed toe shoes for the camp
- Safari hats or wide brim hats for safari
- Swimsuits and bathing suits
- Windcheaters and lightly hooded jackets
- Light and feathery shorts and t-shirts for the day
- Shorts and other safari appropriate clothes for women for the camp (depending upon the weather)
- A polyester or polar fleece shirt/jacket
- SPF sun block, mosquito repellent and a pair of good quality sunglasses (we do provide mosquito repellent at the camp, but the guests are welcomed to bring one as per their preferences)
- USB charger, Power Banks, Camera and its memory card
Since, our camp is based in an extremely remote area where there is minimal connectivity, we request our guests to bring with them all other required essentials such as an extra pair of correction glasses, an extra set of contact lenses with its solution and a sufficient supply of the prescribed medications, if any.
During winter time, between the months of November – February, it is relatively colder and so, we advise our guests to to pack according to the below recommendation:
- Bomber jackets and woolen trench coats
- Ear mitts, buns and beanies, winter hats and scarves
- Gloves
- Layering of thermal under garments below long sleeves shirts and trousers
- Warm sweaters and jumpers
The lunches and dinners at Sinny Leopard Camp are arranged post jungle safari and other excursions of the camp. These arrangements are made either in the lounge or the pool area. The guests can come here directly from the drive or choose to first freshened up and deck up a little before their meals, which is specially the case in the evening. Whatever the preference may be, there is no coercion to it.
What Photographic Equipment do I pack?
Sinny Leopard Camp being a hub for a lot of passionate photographers, we make sure that our guests are able to shoot some extraordinary and professional looking pictures while they are on the jungle safari.
For all the impassioned photographers, we recommend that they bring along with them their own gear of camera and its lens. However, we do have an option of renting a standard Nikon digital camera available with us at the camp.
At Sinny, we also welcome requests from guests those are placed well in advance if they wish to hire a professional camera along with its lens for their safari.
Guests are requested to always remember to carry extra pair of batteries along with a charger in case if they bring any kind of electronic device with them.
Drones and other such unmanned aerial vehicles are strictly not allowed at Sinny Leopard Camp.
Guests can also bring their own pair of binoculars for a better experience. However, we do have a provision of the same, if needed.
Do I Need Sunscreen?
We recommend all our guests to bring with them a high factor SPF sunblock as they are sure to spend plenty of time outside in the open when at Sinny Leopard Camp. Though, we have our own arrangement of sunscreen available with us at the camp, we do understand that the same might not be of one’s preferred brand.
What about guide books?
At Sinny, we have plenty of books available for our guests to enjoy and widen up their knowledge and understanding on a variety of birds, mammals and reptiles that they are sure to experience whilst on a jungle safari.
What is the weather like on safari?
Even though the seasons here tend to follow a reasonable and definitive pattern, in actual, it can not be controlled by humans. Considering this, we always recommend our guests to bring together with them layers and varieties of clothing items those are thick and comfortable too at the same time for the safari. This should be followed regardless of the season that they are travelling.
January being the chilliest month of the year in Rajasthan, the days here are somewhat mild and warm. However, early mornings and nights are relatively colder and should be taken care of.
Although being a dicey situation altogether, one can mostly witness bright blue skies along with sunny days and cooler evenings during winters.
We also recommend the guests visiting our camp to carry with them other essential items such as eye drops as it tends to get quiet windy during winters and these eye drops will be important in keeping the eyes clean.
